The Institute for China Studies was established on July 1, 2004 to promote interdisciplinary research by bringing together China-related research capabilities within Seoul National University.

We aim to promote interdisciplinarity on China studies in social science by networking and supporting the intellectuals in Seoul National University, and to pursue long-term, problem-oriented research based on fieldwork as well as policy research on pending and controversial issues.

Various academic meetings hosted by The Institute for China Studies, such as colloquium, have become an important venue for communications among domestic and foreign scholars of China studies.
